Paraguay: World - Severe weather events - ECHO Daily Map | 02/02/2016

PARAGUAY
• Heavy rain affected the city of Pilar, Neembucu department over the last few days, causing more floods and river to overflow.
• Since Dec 2015, at least 100 000 people have been displaced in Paraguay, due to river overflow.
• Over the next 48 h, moderate to heavy rains may affect Paraguay, especially the northern areas.

PERU
• Strong winds and heavy rain affected central and northern Peru over the last few days, causing damage especially in San Martin.
• As of 1 February, one person died and 35 families were displaced in the province of El Dorado (San Martin).
• Over the next 24 h moderate (locally heavy) rain may still affect the central and northern Peru.

NORTHERN EUROPE
• Severe weather, including strong winds, rain and storm surge has been affecting several countries of northern Europe, especially United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark and Germany, due to the passage of an intense low pressure system.
• As of 2 February, media report power outages in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (United Kingdom), and north-western Ireland.
• Strong winds, rain and storm surge may also affect northern Germany and Denmark over 2-3 February. JRC calculations indicate a max. storm surge of the order of 2.0 - 2.3 m in the coastal areas between Esbejerg (Denmark) and Cuxhaven (Germany) on 2 February evening.

AUSTRALIA
• TC STAN made landfall on 31 Jan in the region of Pilbara (Western Australia) with max. sustained winds of 100-120 km/h, then it moved inland, dissipating.
• Heavy rain and strong winds affected Pilbara. No major damage or injuries have been reported.
